Pants(120)

Motocross pants are the foundation of your riding kit — the piece you grip the bike with, the piece that protects against the engine heat and roost, and the piece that has to flex with every body position from the seated start to the standing attack stance. Built right, they disappear on the bike. Built wrong, they bunch, ride up, get hot, and put you in a bad mood by lap three. What's in this category This category covers full-length MX pants in every cut: standard MX race fit (slim through the legs, room over knee braces, sits at the natural waist), enduro and trail fit (slightly more relaxed, often with pockets and lighter construction), and youth sizing. Most pants here feature pre-curved knees, leather or printed-leather inner-knee panels for grip on the seat, stretch zones over the hamstrings, multi-strap closures, and ventilation panels in the hot zones. How to choose MX pants Three things to confirm before buying. Compatibility with your knee protection — if you wear braces, you need pants that fit over them; many brands publish a "brace-compatible" or "extended knee" measurement. Waist closure — ratcheting buckles let you fine-tune fit between weight-training cycles, traditional snap-and-velcro is more durable long-term. Length — pants must sit cleanly over your boot top with no bunching; the bottom hem should fall just past the top of the boot when standing on the pegs. Fabric choice affects how the pant lasts. 600D or 900D polyester is the workhorse standard. Higher-grade riders look for ripstop nylon and abrasion-resistant aramid panels in the inner knee. Mesh and laser-cut perforations on the inner thighs make a huge difference in 30°C summer riding. Frequently asked questions about Pants

How should motocross pants fit?

Slim through the leg with no bunching at the knee, room over your knee braces if you wear them, and the hem sitting cleanly over the top of your boot when you stand on the pegs. The waist should ratchet snug with no need for a belt. Pants that are loose at the knee will roll the brace position and pinch in the seat.

Do motocross pants come with built-in knee armour?

No. MX pants are designed to be worn over separate knee protection (guards or braces). Some pants have an internal mesh pocket that holds soft pads, but these are not real impact protection. Always buy dedicated knee protection — see our knee protection category.

How do I keep mud and gravel out of the leg openings?

Wear them over the top of the boot (never tucked into the boot), make sure the hem sits at boot-top height when standing on the pegs, and choose pants with an elastic bottom hem. For very muddy conditions some pants have an internal silicone-gripper hem that holds onto the boot leather and keeps debris out.

Are youth MX pants just smaller adult pants?

Roughly, yes — same construction, scaled to smaller waist and leg dimensions. The biggest difference is that youth pants are tuned for lighter weights so the leather inner-knee panels are slightly thinner and softer, which suits a lighter rider better.

Can I machine-wash motocross pants?

Yes — cold water, mild detergent, inside-out, all closures (zips, snaps, ratchets) fastened. Air-dry only — the leather inner-knee panels will stiffen and crack if tumbled with heat. Hose off mud before washing so the dirt does not redistribute across the fabric.
