Leatt is the South African protection brand founded by a doctor, Chris Leatt, and best known for inventing the modern motocross neck brace. Protection is still what it does best, and our Leatt range covers the whole ladder: 3DF knee guards and hinged knee braces, chest and body protectors for adults and kids, neck braces, Velocity goggles, MX gloves, Cross boots and riding kit.
Knee guards or knee braces
Knee guards such as the 3DF 5.0 and 3DF 6.0 use Leatt's 3DF impact foam — soft and flexible while you ride, stiffening on impact to spread the hit. The Hybrid and EXT versions extend coverage down the shin. Knee braces go a step further: a rigid hinged frame that limits hyperextension and twisting, the mechanisms behind most serious knee injuries. Braces cost more and take a few rides to get used to, but if you race regularly or already have knee history, they are the sensible upgrade.
Chest, body and neck protection
The body protector range runs from ventilated 3DF AirFit vests to the hard-shell 5.5, with youth versions of the main models and kids' chest protectors sized by height rather than age. Neck braces such as the 4.5 are designed to work together with a chest or body protector, helping control extreme head movement in a crash — the problem Leatt was founded to solve.
Sizing, delivery and returns
Leatt protection is sized by body measurement, not clothing size: knee guards by thigh and calf circumference, body protectors by chest and height, kids' chest protectors by height in centimetres. Measure first, then check the chart on the product page. Orders ship from Europe with tracked DPD delivery, normally in 5–15 business days, free over €299, with 14-day returns on unused gear. What is the difference between a Leatt knee guard and a knee brace?
A knee guard protects against impact — the 3DF models use soft foam that stiffens when hit. A knee brace adds a rigid hinged frame that limits hyperextension and twisting, the movements behind most serious knee injuries. Guards suit most riders; braces are the upgrade for racers and anyone with previous knee damage.
What is Leatt 3DF?
3DF is Leatt's impact foam. It stays soft and flexible while you ride, then stiffens on impact to absorb and spread the force. It is used across Leatt knee guards and body protection — strong impact protection without the hard-shell feel.
Do I need a chest protector with a Leatt neck brace?
Leatt neck braces are designed to work together with a chest or body protector, which gives the brace a stable platform and covers the torso. Most riders pair the 4.5 neck brace with a Leatt chest or body protector from the same range.
Does Leatt make protection for kids?
Yes. We stock youth versions of the Leatt body protectors and kids' chest protectors sized by height in centimetres (for example 110–134 cm), plus youth gloves. Sizing by height makes it easy to buy the right protector as kids grow.
How do I size Leatt knee guards?
Measure thigh and calf circumference at the points given in the Leatt size chart on the product page, not your trouser size. Between sizes, most riders size up for comfort over long motos. Unused guards can be returned within 14 days if the fit is wrong.
